The BCCA Awards Beardies who have earned three titles in three different areas of AKC Achievement. The Championship, Obedience, Agility, Herding, and Tracking are all possible areas. Until October 1 of 1995, the HIC, the herding instinct test, counted as one of these three titles. Since that date, all Beardie herding titles must be earned in AKC competition to qualify for the award.
A vote was taken to approve a new award, one presented by Sharon Prassa to Chris Walkowicz and through her to the BCCA board. That award is the Versatility Excellent, which recognizes the attainment of 8 titles in at least three AKC areas.
Of the 78 Versatility Excellent Beardies in the country, 14 (18%) belong to the NCBCF.
