The Beardie Agility Diehards have been a community since February of 1997. It has been wonderful sharing with all of you for nearly nine years! We first gathered at the 1997 Specialty in Rohnert Park, California, where we revealed our new logo on our BAD t-shirts designed by Gretchen Blackburn. A group of us shared our first BAD dinner with Karen Norteman, who created our well-known, award winning website. I like to joke that Karen gave me my life's work! It was also at the 1997 Specialty that we decided to support the publication of agility articles in the Bulletin. At the 1999 Specialty in Olympia Washington, we held our first BAD Awards dinner. After the agility trial, we joined each other for an informal evening and called out for pizza and beer. Since then our dinners have grown to well over 50 members annually. This year in Omaha our guest of honor was Judge Greg Beck. We thank the Great Plains Bearded Collie Club for allowing us to invite such a well-known, fun, and highly respected Agility Judge. Sharon Prassa presented him with a Beardie tie on behalf of the Diehards, and Greg looked wonderful wearing it for our 10th Annual BCCA Agility trial.

Joanne Williamson
Joanne Williamson, our BCCA Versatility Chair and BCCA Agility Co-Chair, has been working with the Agility Committee since 1997, tracking all of our Beardies' AKC legs and titles and has been instrumental in working out the point systems for all of our BCCA Agility Awards. When I think of Joanne, dedication is the word that springs to mind. As well as diligently training her seven agility Beardies, Corey, Sean, Lily, Rob, Beau, Belle and Flash, Joanne has given of herself tirelessly to all of us.
Corey, BIS Am/Can/Bda CH Parcana Lord Corwin, OA, NAJ, CDX, HIC, VX, ROMA- 11/4/85-1/31/02, was Joanne's first Agility and Versatility Excellent Beardie.
Sean, CH MACH Balgrae's Sean Mackay, NAC, NJC, CD, HS, JHDs, STDs, VX- 12/24/89 - 3/15/04, holds the distinction of being the first Beardie to earn the AKC Agility championship, the MACH, on 16 June 2001. He won the Denia Award for 1998, the Diehard Trophy for 1999 and 2000, the Jumpers Trophy for 1999 and 2000, and held the distinction of being "top AKC Beardie" in 1999 and 2000. Sean won BCCA agility Highs in Trial and was a Versatility Excellent Beardie.
Lily, Ch Britannia Sweet Black Angel, NA, HIC, HCTs- 9/12/89-8/23/05, was Joanne's third agility Beardie, handled by Marilyn Arwe.
Rob, Ch Balgrae's Rob Ruadh, MX, MXJ, AD, EAC, EJC, EGC, TN-N, TG-N, WV-N, NVC, CD, RAE, HT, JHDs, VX, earned a BCCA Agility High in Trial and is a Versatility Excellent Beardie. He has recently turned his paw very successfully to Rally, where he has earned the first RAE title.
Beau, Britannia Beau Brummel, MX, MXJ, EAC, EJC, EGC, TN-E, WV-O, TG-O, OVC, PT, RN, besides being a proven agility Beardie is showing himself, like all of Joanne's Beardies, to be wonderfully versatile.
Belle, Ch Britannia Belle of the Ball, NA, NJC, TN-N, like Sean and Rob, has earned a BCCA Agility High in Trial.
Flash, Ch Britannia Flashback, OAC, OJC, OGC,
TN-O, TG-N, PT, RN, Joanne's youngest, is, as his titles show,
off to an incredible start and I expect great things of him in
Agility as well as Versatility.

This was an incredibly successful agility year for our Beardies! Congratulations to Karen Barratt, Sarah Halsey, David Williamson, Jeff Ipser, Jill Scarborough, Pat Coreris, and Leslie Dawson-North who all earned one or two championships this year. Leslie was also invited for a second year to be part of the Canadian World Team.
